Chiyaan Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram Finally Gets Court Approval for Release
Chiyaan Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram Faces Legal Hurdles
Chiyaan Vikram's much-anticipated film Dhruva Natchathiram has encountered numerous delays before its theatrical debut. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the movie was originally slated for release eight years ago. However, it has yet to premiere due to ongoing legal issues. Recently, the Madras High Court has reportedly rejected the appeals made by creditors opposing the film's release. According to reports, a thorough investigation into the situation is still pending, as noted by LiveLaw. Continue reading for further details on this case.
Recent Developments Regarding Dhruva Natchathiram's Release
As reported by CNBC TV18, LiveLaw has indicated that a bench of Justices P Velmurugan and K Govindarajan Thilakavadi dismissed the creditors' appeals. The creditors, K Prem Kumar and K Punniyamoorthy, had filed these appeals, but the dismissal has provided significant relief to the film's producers.
This latest development follows a prior order from a single judge of the High Court, which allowed the release of Vikram's film under certain conditions. Previously, the court had instructed the establishment of an escrow account in the name of Kondaduvom Entertainment. The legal dispute centers around financial disagreements regarding the theatrical distribution rights of Enai Noki Paayum Thota. Following a conflict with Escape Artists Motion Pictures, one of the film's producers, legal proceedings were initiated. In 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, resulting in the transfer of 50% of the producer's rights to the producers of Dhruva Natchathiram.
Gautham Vasudev Menon's Response to the Court's Decision
In the meantime, Gautham Vasudev Menon shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing that certain individuals attempted to sabotage his career and prevent his film's release. He acknowledged the honorable justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy for facilitating this outcome. Menon stated, "A landmark order passed to release Dhruva Natchathiram will serve as a benchmark for any film that finds itself in a similar predicament within an industry that often lacks organized and structured funding." The film, co-written by Menon and Deepak Venkateshan, is a spy action thriller featuring a talented cast, including Ritu Varma, R Parthiban, Simran, Radikaa Sarathkumar, and Aishwarya Rajesh. Produced by Ondraga Entertainment and Oruoorileoru Film House, the film's budget is reportedly around Rs 80 crore. Initially announced for an August 2017 release, the filmmakers have yet to confirm a new release date.
