Actress Hina Khan has recently spoken out regarding the controversy surrounding her fellow television star Shilpa Shinde, who made unfounded sexual harassment claims against Sanjay Kohli, the producer of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Kohli has publicly stated that Shinde's allegations, made years ago, were false, explaining that she felt "trapped" during a contract dispute and believed she had no other options. On June 3, Hina decided to share her thoughts on the matter, feeling it was necessary to address such a serious issue, despite typically refraining from commenting on disputes that do not involve her directly. She expressed her views through a detailed and strongly worded message on social media.
Shilpa Shinde Recants Her Allegations
The discussion reignited when Shilpa Shinde appeared on a podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, where she discussed her well-known fallout with the producers of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. During the conversation, Shinde admitted that the sexual harassment allegations she made against Sanjay Kohli were untrue. She explained that she filed the complaint due to contractual and payment disputes, feeling she had no other recourse.
Hina Critiques the Misuse of Allegations
In her Instagram Stories, Hina Khan condemned the exploitation of serious allegations for personal gain. She stated, "Yes, using your Sex to malign someone's image in order to win during a conflict is absolutely shameful." Hina emphasized that while seeking justice in legitimate cases is crucial, she was left "shocked beyond words" by the situation at hand.
Highlighting the True Victim
Hina shifted the focus to what she termed the "real victim" in this controversy, referring to producer Sanjay Kohli. She pointed out that he is a family man with a wife and daughter, whose lives could be adversely affected by such allegations. Defending Kohli, Hina described him as a dedicated producer associated with numerous iconic television shows. She remarked, "As admitted by the Female Actor, her allegations were not just baseless; they were used to gain advantage, to win, to score, to claim, to settle without the utilization of Law."
Questioning the Industry's Response
Hina expressed disbelief that despite the serious allegations, the same producer continued to offer work to Shinde. She questioned, "And even after that, the SAME producer gives the SAME show to the SAME person. Another LAUNCHPAD, another MOUTHPIECE, another RELEVANCE, another CHANCE to legitimize her Fake Claim of SEXUAL ASSAULT." Hina concluded her post by stating, "What if the actor repeats it? After all, the actor has been given the same show by the one she FALSELY ACCUSED." She referred to the entire situation as "The joke is on us."
