A Special Bond Beyond Social Media

For actor Himanshu N Awasthie, Mother's Day is more than just sharing perfect posts online. In a heartfelt interview, he opens up about his mother, Mrs. Chandrakala Sharma, whom he regards as his steadfast supporter. Their deep connection was forged long before fame, stemming from a childhood incident on a terrace involving a kite that led to a serious fall. "I was in sixth grade, flying a kite when I fell from the terrace and broke my right foot," Himanshu reminisces.

The consequences of that fall shaped their relationship for a month. "Mom took care of me completely during that time. She carried me, managed all my needs, and ensured I got to school and back. She has always been my rock, no matter the circumstances," he reflects. This poignant memory of his mother’s nurturing during his recovery continues to motivate him. "Whenever I feel lost or things go awry, I reach out to her," he shares.

Himanshu is candid about the complexities in their relationship. "We have our share of arguments, but every time we clash or I open up, things return to a warm and special state," he explains. The most intense discussions often revolve around his career decisions. "We still have significant debates about my choices—whether they are right or wrong. She doesn’t fully grasp this industry; our family has always been in traditional jobs," he admits.

He acknowledges the societal pressures that complicate their conversations. "When people say this field doesn’t work that way, it affects her deeply. She feels disheartened, and I try to uplift her, but the debates persist." However, he views these arguments as expressions of her love and concern. "She debates with me because I matter to her. She witnessed my fall once, and she doesn’t want to see it happen again. That fear is rooted in love," he states.

As Mother's Day nears, Himanshu has a simple yet meaningful message for his mother: "Thank you, Mom. I love you. You carried me when I couldn’t walk." He also holds a promise for the future. "One day, I’ll achieve greatness. Trust me, I’ll prove it to you and the world." He dreams of a time when those who doubt his journey will recognize his accomplishments, and his mother will reflect on their shared experiences. His message resonates with all mothers supporting children on unconventional paths: "Your fears are valid. But remember—the child arguing with you still turns to you when they feel lost. That means you are their safe haven," he concludes. As for Himanshu, he continues to fly kites, now at a higher altitude, eager for his mother to witness his journey.
