Mumbai: In a heartfelt message commemorating the late Dharmendra's 90th birthday, actress and politician Hema Malini shared her emotional journey following the passing of the iconic actor. She expressed that it has been 'over two weeks' since she felt 'heartbroken' and is still in the process of 'picking up the pieces.'


Hema took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share two cherished photos with Dharmendra, whom she affectionately referred to as her 'dear heart.'





In her message, Hema wrote, 'Dharam ji…Happy birthday my dear heart.' She continued, 'More than two weeks have passed since you left me heartbroken, slowly gathering up the pieces and trying to reconstruct my life, knowing that you will always be with me in spirit.'


The actress expressed gratitude for the years they shared, their 'two beautiful daughters' who symbolize their love, and the precious memories she holds dear.


'The joyful memories of our life together can never be erased, and reliving those moments brings me immense comfort and joy. I thank God for our wonderful years together, for our two beautiful girls who reaffirm our love for each other, and for all the beautiful, happy memories that will remain in my heart.'


On this special day, she prayed for 'the wealth of peace and happiness' for Dharmendra, commending his humility, kindness, and love for others.

Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 on November 24th. He is celebrated as one of the most handsome and commercially successful stars in Indian cinema, with a career spanning over six decades and more than 300 films to his credit.


He holds the record for the highest number of hit films in Hindi cinema and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2012.


Making his debut in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere, he gained fame in the mid-1960s with films like Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Phool Aur Patthar, and Aaye Din Bahar Ke.


His successful run continued through the late 1960s to the 1980s with hits such as Ankhen, Shikar, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Raja Jani, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dost, Sholay, Pratiggya, Charas, Dharam Veer, Chacha Bhatija, Ghulami, Hukumat, Aag Hi Aag, Elaan-E-Jung, Tahalka, Anpadh, Bandini, Haqeeqat, Anupama, Mamta, Majhli Didi, Satyakam, Naya Zamana, Samadhi, Resham Ki Dori, Chupke Chupke, Dillagi, The Burning Train, Ghazab, Do Dishayen, and Hathyar.


In the late 1990s, he transitioned to character roles in acclaimed films like Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Life in a… Metro, Apne, Johnny Gaddaar, Yamla Pagla Deewana, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.


Posthumously, he will be featured in Ikkis, directed by renowned filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. The film, which stars Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, is a war drama based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. It also includes Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher in significant roles and is set to release in December.
