Harry Potter Films Set for 25th Anniversary Re-Release in Theaters
Return to Hogwarts: Celebrating 25 Years of Harry Potter
Prepare to revisit the magical world of Hogwarts! The entire Harry Potter film series, featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, will be shown in theaters once again to mark the franchise's 25th anniversary. Traditionally, September 1 signifies the beginning of the school year at Hogwarts, and Warner Bros is organizing a global celebration for this occasion. The eight films will be released worldwide from August 27 to September 3, 2026. Notably, the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, will include an additional 12 minutes of previously unseen behind-the-scenes content. In some regions, this film is referred to as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
All Harry Potter Films Returning to Cinemas
Tickets for the re-release of all eight Harry Potter films will be available for purchase internationally starting July 31. This one-week event is part of the studio's 2026 Back to Hogwarts celebration, culminating in the premiere of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone TV series on HBO Max on Christmas Day, December 25.
Radcliffe portrayed the iconic Harry Potter, while Grint and Watson took on the roles of his loyal friends Ron and Hermione from Gryffindor. The films also featured a stellar cast, including Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Dame Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, and Michael Gambon. The series was directed by Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates, who helmed the final four installments.
Additional Celebrations for the 25th Anniversary
A special fan event is scheduled for September 1, 2026, in London, England, featuring interactive experiences and giveaways. Fans are advised to refrain from visiting King's Cross Station, where many gather annually to celebrate students departing for Hogwarts. More information regarding ticketing and other event locations will be announced soon. In addition to England, festivities are planned in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Australia, and Japan.
Exciting activities will include a grand wand lesson at the Orangerie Gardens in Paris’ Château de Versailles, a special screening in Venice, and fan celebrations in Madrid and Sydney, along with other events in Berlin and China. The Harry Potter theme parks at Universal Studios globally, as well as the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in cities like London and Tokyo, will also host unique events.
