Hanuman Ansh Surpasses ₹200 Crore at Box Office, Misses Oscar Submission Due to Deadline
Hanuman Ansh Achieves Major Box Office Success
The film 'Hanuman Ansh' has reached a remarkable achievement by surpassing the ₹200 crore mark globally, marking it as an unexpected commercial triumph. However, despite this notable success at the box office, the film will not be submitted for India’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film category for the upcoming Academy Awards.
This decision to skip the Oscar submission was not a calculated move but rather a consequence of missing an important administrative deadline. Producer Namita Singh shared that the team was not fully aware of the specific requirements and timelines for submissions, which closed on September 7. She mentioned that the production house is currently operating with a limited team and has been overwhelmed with various logistical tasks, which led to this oversight.
Challenges in Operations and Focus on Production
In addressing the situation, Singh emphasized that the team had been more focused on broadening the film's audience rather than on the award season protocols. At present, the production is concentrating on completing dubbing in several languages to reach a wider demographic. Additionally, the team is working on implementing accessibility features to ensure that the film is inclusive for viewers with different abilities, a task that has required considerable time and resources from their small crew.
An Unconventional Box Office Journey
The path to achieving the ₹200 crore milestone has been quite unique, starting with a modest opening of just 10 lakh. The film gained traction through positive word-of-mouth, ultimately setting new records and becoming the smallest Indian film to achieve this financial success. Directed by Vishal Chhaturvedi and inspired by the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, this spiritual drama features performances by Shhinau Satya and Vihan Shade Gay. Although the opportunity for an Oscar has passed, the film continues to perform well in theaters as the team focuses on expanding its regional reach.
