Govinda's Divorce Drama Takes a New Turn as Sunita Ahuja Withdraws Petition
New Developments in Govinda and Sunita Ahuja's Divorce Case
Mumbai. The ongoing divorce saga between Bollywood star Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja has taken an unexpected turn. Sunita has officially retracted her divorce petition against Govinda, a fact confirmed by Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha. Despite the withdrawal, Sinha expressed his frustration, questioning the necessity of filing for divorce if the intention was to retract it later. He labeled the situation as a spectacle for the family.
On Wednesday, Sunita Ahuja arrived at the family court in Mumbai accompanied by their son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, and her lawyer. News of her court appearance quickly spread, reigniting speculation about their divorce. However, Sinha later clarified to the media that Sunita had indeed withdrawn her petition, stating that there is no separation between the couple, which he considered a positive outcome. Nonetheless, he also voiced his displeasure regarding the entire episode.
Sinha remarked, “There was no need to go to court. Many issues can be resolved through discussions at home. If the intention was to withdraw today, why file in the first place? This has saddened me. Why did we have to turn this into a spectacle?” He emphasized that internal family matters should not have been taken to court, as disagreements between spouses are common and can be resolved through dialogue.
He further noted that for the past year and a half, this issue has been a topic of media discussion, adversely affecting the family's image and turning it into an unnecessary drama. He questioned why the petition was made public if it was to be withdrawn later, insisting that family matters should remain private.
It is worth mentioning that Sunita Ahuja filed for divorce in December 2024 at the Bandra family court, citing grounds such as cruelty, infidelity, and abandonment. The case had garnered significant attention over time, with public statements from both parties making headlines. With the withdrawal of the petition, this legal dispute appears to be resolved.
Govinda's manager clarified that the actor has no significant reaction to the matter at this time. He expressed a wish for wisdom for everyone involved and emphasized the importance of resolving family disputes privately rather than publicly. Many issues can be settled at home, he reiterated.
Govinda and Sunita have been married for nearly four decades and share two children: daughter Tina Ahuja and son Yashvardhan Ahuja. Over the years, their relationship has faced various rumors and controversies. Recent events had also sparked discussions, but with the withdrawal of the divorce petition, there is hope for peace within the family.
Sinha's comments indicate that while the legal matter may be closed, he remains upset about the public exposure of the family's private issues. He repeatedly stressed that such matters should have remained within the family, bringing Govinda and Sunita's relationship back into the spotlight.
