Highlights from the 83rd Golden Globes

Los Angeles: The 83rd Golden Globes celebrated a mix of triumphs and surprises, with Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another clinching the top award in the comedy category. Meanwhile, Chloe Zhao's adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamnet took home the best film award in the drama category, defeating Sinners.

One Battle After Another also secured accolades for best director and best screenplay, with Teyana Taylor winning for best supporting female actor. Anderson's achievement marks him as only the second director to sweep the director, screenplay, and film categories at the Globes, a feat previously accomplished by Oliver Stone for Born on the Fourth of July.

Despite Hamnet winning the prestigious best film award, Sinners was recognized for its score and for achieving significant box office success, grossing USD 278 million domestically and USD 368 million globally, making it the highest-grossing original film in 15 years.

Ryan Coogler expressed gratitude to the audience, stating, "I just want to thank the audience for showing up; it means the world."

The ceremony, hosted by Nikki Glaser, was a star-studded event that included wins for the animated feature KPop Demon Hunters and a new award for podcasting, which went to Amy Poehler's Good Hang.

Timothee Chalamet celebrated his first Golden Globe win for Marty Supreme, expressing his gratitude and reflecting on his journey in the industry. The event took place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and opened with a politically charged monologue from Glaser.

The night also saw Jessie Buckley winning best female actor in a drama for her role in Hamnet, while Rose Byrne took home the award for best female actor in a comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Wagner Moura won best actor in a drama for The Secret Agent, which also received the award for best international film.

Other notable winners included Stellan Skarsgård for Sentimental Value and Netflix's Adolescence, which won four awards, including best limited series.

The evening concluded with The Studio winning best comedy series, with Seth Rogen also recognized as best male actor in a comedy.
