Get Ready for a New Chapter: Netflix Unveils 'Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure'
A New Addition to the Stranger Things Universe
Netflix is expanding the beloved science-fiction horror series Stranger Things with an exciting new prequel titled Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure. This series will explore the backstory of Henry Creel, who later becomes the notorious villain Vecna.
The announcement coincided with Stranger Things Day, celebrated annually on November 6, marking the fictional date in 1983 when Will Byers went missing. This upcoming series will be the fourth installment in the franchise, following the original series, the animated spin-off Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, and the stage play Stranger Things: First Shadow.
Delving into Vecna's Origins
Exploring the Origins of Vecna
Set in 1955 in Marion, Nevada, the prequel will delve into the events leading up to Henry Creel's encounter with supernatural forces that ultimately shape his dark destiny. By focusing on the mid-1950s, the series aims to shed light on the origins of the supernatural elements that have become central to the original show.
The creative minds behind this project include series creators Matt and Ross Duffer, who are collaborating with writer Kate Trefry, who will also serve as the showrunner and executive producer. Filming is expected to take place in New Mexico, with Joe Wright directing the first three episodes. Although the original Stranger Things series wrapped up its five-season journey on December 31, 2025, fans can look forward to this new installment premiering on Netflix in 2028.
