In a recent discussion, Farah shared insights about the contrasting working environment of that era and disclosed alarming details regarding the underworld's influence on the industry. She recounted how Karan Johar faced immense pressure due to threats from the underworld just before the premiere of his debut film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

As one of the most prominent directors in Indian cinema, Karan Johar made his directorial debut with the iconic film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Salman Khan. During a podcast with Ranveer Allahabadia, Farah Khan, who choreographed the film, revealed that the premiere was nearly called off due to serious threats from the underworld. She explained that Karan received these threats while working on both Duplicate and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, causing significant fear among the cast and crew. Being a first-time director, Karan was particularly anxious leading up to the film's release.

“There were discussions about whether the premiere would be cancelled. Security measures were heightened for the event because Karan was under immense stress,” Farah noted. She also highlighted that the underworld's grip on Bollywood during the 90s was severe, recalling the tragic incident where filmmaker Mukesh Duggal was shot on set, marking a tumultuous period for the industry.
