How to Play NYT Connections

In this game, you will encounter a grid filled with words, and your task is to identify the hidden connections among them. Consider synonyms, antonyms, and word families to solve the puzzle. If you find yourself stuck, hints are available within the game. You can also monitor your daily progress and challenge friends or other players to see who can solve the most puzzles.

A new puzzle is released every day at midnight, accessible via the NYT website or app. Your objective is to organize 16 words into four groups of four based on their connections. Categories may include clickable items, names of research participants, or words associated with body parts.

Each puzzle has a single solution, so be cautious of words that may fit into multiple categories. You can rearrange words to discover their connections.

The groups are color-coded, with yellow typically being the easiest, blue and green in the middle, and purple often the most challenging, usually involving wordplay.

Select four words that you believe belong together and click the ‘Submit’ button. Incorrect guesses will cost you a life, while nearing a correct group may prompt a message indicating you're just one word away from success. However, you must still decide which word to swap. If you make four mistakes, the game ends.
