The upcoming release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on Christmas Day has fans eagerly awaiting the second season of the HBO series. This season will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and actor John Lithgow, who portrays Albus Dumbledore, has shared insights about returning to Hogwarts. Currently, he is starring as Roald Dahl in the Broadway play Giant, where he mentioned that Daniel Radcliffe attended one of his performances.
John Lithgow Reveals Season 2 Production Timeline
During his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lithgow provided exciting news regarding the next season's production. He confirmed that the first season has been completed and that filming for Season 2 is set to commence in the fall. The HBO reboot aims to adapt all seven books from the Harry Potter series, following the film adaptations, with an estimated timeline of nearly a decade to complete the project.
Lithgow expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "About half the crew I worked with on The Crown, which, until now, is the best television I've ever done. You put on that beard down to here, these long cloaks and the floppy hats; it's magic!" He praised the talented cast he is collaborating with and noted that Radcliffe was "wonderful" during his visit to the Broadway show. In this new adaptation, Dominic McLaughlin will take on the role of young Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton portraying his close friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, respectively.
