While Tovino Thomas was initially slated for this role, the shift to Gupta has sparked interest, especially with his rugged new look that contrasts sharply with his previous roles, including Jay Khanna in Jubilee and Charles Sobhraj in Black Warrant.

Formerly titled NTR-Neel, Dragon is helmed by Prashanth Neel, renowned for the successful KGF series. As Jr NTR's birthday approaches, the film's first look was unveiled, showcasing him as Luger, the Assassin in Chief of the Afghan Trading Company. Set in 1967, the narrative delves into the conflict between the Afghan Trading Company and the Golden Trading Company, set against the backdrop of the opium trade. The teaser suggests a gripping tale filled with power struggles and crime.
Alongside Jr NTR, the film features Anil Kapoor as Raghuveer Rathod, the Chief of the Narcotics Bureau of India, with a supporting cast that includes Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth, Khushbu Sundar, and Guru Somasundaram. The music for this pan-Indian project is composed by Ravi Basrur. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts, Dragon will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, with the official release date yet to be announced.
