Excitement Builds for AEW All In Texas 2025: Women's Championship Match Highlights

Fans are buzzing with excitement for the upcoming AEW All In Texas 2025, particularly for the monumental women's championship match. Scheduled for next weekend, this showdown features reigning TBS Champion Mercedes Mone challenging Toni Storm, the current AEW Women's World Champion. This match is being touted as a potential main event.

Interestingly, this matchup was not the initial plan for the event. Mone had originally expressed interest in facing ROH Women’s Champion Athena. According to reports, Mone was even willing to lose to Athena to set up a rematch from the previous year's Owen Hart Cup.

However, plans shifted when Mariah May, who was supposed to face Storm, transitioned to WWE, leading to the finalization of the Mone vs. Storm match. This change meant that Mone's undefeated streak in AEW was directly influenced by the creative direction for the event.

“Those close to Mercedes Monè say she was willing to lose to Athena to build a rematch at AEW All In Texas. But when the Toni Storm vs. Mone match was decided upon, it made no sense for her to lose that match and not win the Owen Hart tournament.”

Despite the star power of Mone and Storm, fans still believe that a match between May and Storm would have been a thrilling addition to the card, allowing their storyline to develop further without a rushed conclusion.
