Euphoria Season 3 Episode 7: Rain or Shine
The characters in HBO's Euphoria have been navigating perilous situations throughout the season. From dealing with debt collectors to facing DEA agents and drug dealers, the stakes have been high. It was only a matter of time before tragedy struck. Earlier this season, creator Sam Levinson hinted at impending doom when Zendaya's character, Rue, found herself buried up to her neck in dirt, confronted by Alamo Brown on horseback. In the latest episode, the series finally bids farewell to a character integral to the storyline since the beginning. **Spoiler Alert: Major plot details ahead!**
Euphoria Season 3 Episode 7: Rain or Shine
In this season, Nate Jacobs, portrayed by Jacob Ellordi, has been struggling to establish a retirement community for seniors. Despite borrowing substantial funds from investors, progress has stalled due to the discovery of a rare flower. Nate's pleas to the city council for assistance have been in vain, and one of his debt collectors, Naz (Jack Topalian), is particularly ruthless.
Nate's debt has ballooned to nearly a million dollars, accumulating interest. Following his wedding to Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Naz's henchmen assaulted the couple and amputated Nate's pinkie toe. When Nate fell behind on payments again, they removed his restored toe once more. In the latest episode, titled Rain or Shine, Nate's misfortune culminates in a tragic end.
How Does Nate Meet His End in Euphoria Season 3?
Naz and his crew capture Nate once more, burying him in a shallow grave with a small opening for air. They then bring Cassie into the mix, giving her a three-day deadline to settle Nate's debt and secure his release. Resourceful Cassie enlists Maddy (Alexa Demie) for help, who informs Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) about the dire situation. Alamo arrives at the payment location and shoots the debt collector. However, as Cassie attempts to rescue Nate, a rattlesnake slithers through the air hole and bites him, leading to his demise. Cassie, now a widow, mourns over his lifeless body. In a behind-the-scenes video, Elordi expressed that he found his character's exit to be a "cool way" to leave the series.
The production even featured a real boa constrictor in the scene, which Elordi described as cute and cuddly. He shared that he wasn't intimidated by the snake, which appeared to doze off during filming. Reflecting on his time with the show, he stated, "This show is a massive part of not just my career, but my life. It’s been amazing, and I’m so proud being a part of this." Meanwhile, Zendaya's Rue continues to face significant challenges as she attempts to outmaneuver both Alamo and drug dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly). The season finale of Euphoria is set to stream on June 1 on JioHotstar.
