A Budding Bromance Unfolds

The anticipated friendship between Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and actor Tom Holland is taking shape. Recently, Haaland has accepted Holland's long-standing invitation for dinner, following a humorous revelation from the actor about his unanswered direct message. This playful exchange began when Holland appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Christopher Nolan's film, The Odyssey. During the show, Holland shared that he had reached out to Haaland for dinner but received no reply.

"I thought, 'I'll text him and invite him for dinner,'" Holland recounted. "But I got nothing back—not even a 'I'm busy' or any excuse." He laughed off the situation, admitting he never expected to discuss it on live television.

The amusing story quickly gained traction online, with fans expressing excitement over the potential friendship between the Hollywood star and the football icon. Many were eager for Haaland to respond, and he eventually did, commenting, "Dinner invitation accepted @tomholland2013. A little late. Just name the place!" This playful acknowledgment thrilled fans, who are now eagerly anticipating a possible meeting between the two.

In a subsequent appearance on the Norwegian version of The Assembly, Haaland explained why he initially overlooked Holland's message. He admitted that he didn't recognize the actor's name and thought it was from someone unknown. "This is a bit embarrassing, to be completely honest," Haaland confessed. "I was in Monaco at the Formula 1 when I received the message. I don't watch many movies, so I didn't know who he was."

Haaland further clarified that he assumed it was a stranger asking to go out for dinner, which is why he chose not to respond. His candidness added to the charm of the story, making fans appreciate both players' personalities.

Meanwhile, Holland is busy promoting his latest projects, including The Odyssey, which is set to release this week, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next installment in the Marvel series, alongside his co-star and wife, Zendaya. Although there are ongoing rumors about his return in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios has yet to confirm his involvement in the upcoming superhero film.
