Drew Barrymore's New Adventure on Wheels

Hollywood star and talk show host Drew Barrymore is embracing a more adventurous lifestyle this summer by trading her upscale home for the simplicity of an RV. Just weeks after selling her beautifully renovated residence in Westchester County, the 51-year-old actress gave her fans a sneak peek of her new temporary living arrangement on Instagram. In a fun video, Barrymore was seen dancing around the motorhome, dressed casually in a baseball cap and flannel shirt, with Enya's "Caribbean Blue" playing in the background. She captioned the post, "Do I want to RV? Yes, yes I do. I'll bring the string lights and tea!!"

In her video, Barrymore offered a cozy tour of her mobile home, highlighting its compact yet inviting interiors. The petite kitchen was equipped with essential features, including a stove and sink, and a kettle from her Beautiful by Drew homeware line was visible both in its packaging and later secured to the wall for travel. She also showcased a sleeping area adorned with pink bedding and a compact bathroom complete with a small sink and vanity mirror. The video concluded with a selfie inside the RV, where an oven mitt was hanging from a wall hook, adding to the homely atmosphere of her new adventure.

This RV escapade follows Barrymore's recent sale of her expansive six-bedroom, nine-bathroom estate in Harrison, Westchester County. She acquired the historic 12-acre property in 2024 for USD 4.4 million and listed it earlier this year for USD 4.99 million. The estate, dating back to the 1740s, quickly found a buyer and is currently pending sale, marking a significant shift for Barrymore.

The renovation of this historic residence turned out to be a monumental task, far more intricate than she had initially expected. What started as a simple cosmetic update transformed into a comprehensive structural renovation, requiring extensive work on the home's heating, plumbing, and air-conditioning systems. The kitchen underwent a significant redesign to create a brighter, more open living area, a process that took nearly a year. Barrymore humorously compared her experience to the classic film "The Money Pit," reflecting on the hurdles she encountered during the renovation.

Despite the difficulties, Barrymore noted that the renovation allowed her to explore her passion for interior design, even choosing to reside in the house during parts of the restoration. However, as her daughters' schedules became busier, the countryside retreat no longer suited their needs, leading to the decision to sell. As she embarks on this new chapter, Barrymore's RV adventure symbolizes a shift towards simplicity and spontaneity in her life.
