Diljit was the only actor that came to Trehan's mind. In January 2021, he met Diljit at Amritsar Airport, where, despite his busy schedule, Diljit agreed to discuss the project.

He remarked, "How could I accept money for portraying a remarkable individual like Jaswant Singh Khalra? That would be disgraceful." To comply with legal requirements, a nominal fee of ₹1 was recorded at Diljit's request.
