Concert Permission Granted

Mumbai: The concert for singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour, set for October 30 in Delhi, has been approved after a thorough security assessment.

The event organizer, BookMyShow Live, clarified that earlier reports suggesting the concert's cancellation were incorrect. They stated that permission had been temporarily withheld, but this should not be mistaken for a cancellation. Due to the festive season, Delhi Police requested additional safety, traffic, and crowd management protocols.

BookMyShow Live confirmed that they had a productive meeting with Delhi Police, where they presented a comprehensive plan and assured compliance with all necessary security and traffic regulations. As a result, the event's permission was re-evaluated and granted.

The statement emphasized, “We, along with Delhi Police, are dedicated to providing a positive experience for both attendees and local residents.”

Previously, it was reported that Delhi Police had initially denied permission for the concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium due to security issues. An official communication dated October 21 from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South District, informed BookMyShow Live that their request for the event featuring Dosanjh could not be approved.

The police letter stated, “Given the specific threat-related information, along with various security and law enforcement obligations arising from the ongoing festive season and other significant law and order issues, the request cannot be granted.”

While the police cited security threats and law enforcement concerns as reasons for withholding permission, they did not elaborate on the nature of these threats.

The Delhi concert will kick off Dosanjh's ‘Aura India Tour’, a six-week musical journey that will cover multiple cities across the nation, including Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Lucknow, among others.
