Dilip Kumar Reflects on His Life and Relationships

In a nostalgic interview with Lehren TV, the late iconic actor Dilip Kumar shared memories of his wife, Saira Banu, and her introduction to his famous co-star, Madhubala.

Dilip Kumar reminisced about their first encounter, stating, “My initial impression of Saira ji was that she was quite young. I was aware of her even before she made her film debut.”

He recounted, “She was just a young girl who had a brief appearance at the start of ‘Mughal-e-Azam.’ I took the initiative to introduce her to Madhubala. I would lift her up and place her on a stool; that was how it all began.”

The actor also expressed his initial concerns when Saira expressed her ambition to enter the film industry. He remarked, “When she showed interest in acting, I was hesitant. I wondered what girls would do in films. She was well-educated, having studied in England, and I thought it was time for her to settle down with a good man instead of pursuing a film career.”

Despite his reservations, he acknowledged her determination, saying, “She was resolute about acting, and her journey is better narrated by her than by me.”

Interestingly, not many are aware that Dilip Kumar and Madhubala had a romantic relationship for several years before they separated due to personal issues involving Dilip and Madhubala's father.

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1966 when she was just 22 and he was 44, marking a significant age difference of 22 years.
