Dhurandhar's Box Office Triumph

The spy action series Dhurandhar, created by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh, has made a significant impact at the box office, amassing over Rs 3,000 crore globally across both films. In stark contrast, the Pakistani film Mera Lyari has struggled to find its footing, reportedly flopping within its first week of release. This film was intended as a counter-narrative to Dhar's depiction of violence and crime in Karachi's Lyari, aiming to showcase a more authentic representation of the area. However, it appears that audiences were not drawn to it.

Mera Lyari's Disappointing Reception

Dhurandhar vs Mera Lyari

The Pakistani film Mera Lyari, which was marketed as a response to Dhurandhar, has reportedly been withdrawn from cinemas due to an alarming lack of audience interest. Directed by Abu Aleeha, the film aimed to highlight the positive aspects of Lyari and featured Ayesha Omar, Dananeer Mobeen, and Samiya Mumtaz in prominent roles. Centered around a female footballer, the film sparked discussions online but failed to attract viewers to theaters. Reports indicate that only 22 tickets were sold, although official box office figures have not yet been released. The film's producers have not confirmed the cancellation of screenings at major venues across Pakistan.

Dhurandhar's Record-Breaking Success

Dhurandhar's Big ROAR At Box Office

Dhurandhar follows the story of a covert Indian spy who infiltrates local gangs in Lyari to gather intelligence on terrorist threats against India. The film, which features a star-studded cast including Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun, premiered in December last year and grossed over Rs 1,300 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever. Just three months later, the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, was released to even greater fanfare, breaking numerous records and surpassing other major Hindi films like Animal, Pathaan, Jawan, and Pushpa 2: The Rule. Currently, it has achieved an impressive worldwide gross of Rs 1,796 crore after a successful 57-day theatrical run, solidifying its status as the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time.
