Dhurandhar 2: Regional Dubs Delayed Despite CBFC Clearance

Dhurandhar 2's Release and Regional Dubs

Upon its release in December 2025, Dhurandhar aimed primarily at Hindi-speaking audiences. Due to its success and requests from South Indian markets, the film's creators, led by Aditya Dhar, decided to produce Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions of the action thriller. These regional dubs were initially set to launch alongside the Hindi version on March 19. However, audiences who had purchased tickets for the March 18 preview shows for these versions were left disappointed when the final prints did not arrive. The theatres offered refunds and rescheduling options for affected viewers.

CBFC Approval for Regional Versions

Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam Versions Approved

Recent updates indicate that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted clearance to the Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam versions on March 19. Notably, these dubs are longer than the Hindi version, with the Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cuts running for 3 hours and 51 minutes, while the Hindi version is 3 hours and 49 minutes. The Kannada version is still awaiting CBFC approval. Audiences in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala can now book their tickets.

Reasons Behind the Delay

Why Were the Regional Dubs Postponed?

On March 19, PVR cinemas released a statement explaining the delay in the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions. They clarified that the cancellation of shows was due to the production team not providing the regional language versions in time. While Hindi screenings continued with subtitles, the South Indian dubs were still pending. After failing to launch the South dubs by 5 PM on March 18, Aditya took to Instagram to announce the delay, assuring audiences that they would be able to watch the film from 9 PM that same day. Unfortunately, the shows were ultimately cancelled with no new timeline provided.

CBFC Cuts for Hindi Version

CBFC Edits for Hindi Release

The Hindi version of Dhurandhar 2 received approval from the CBFC after the board mandated a total of 21 cuts. Reports indicate that the censor board required the filmmakers to mute certain profanities and replace specific words. Additionally, four violent scenes were edited out, including a two-second reduction of a hammer strike visual, a four-second cut of a head being hit with cement blocks, and the removal of a 24-second sequence involving beheading.

Cast of Dhurandhar 2

The film features a star-studded cast, including Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari, R Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Aslam Chaudhary, and Sara Arjun as Yalina Jamali, among others.
