Celebrating Dhurandhar 2's Success

The ongoing North vs South film industry debate continues, yet both sectors have united to commend Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2, now officially titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Not only have Bollywood stars like Karan Johar, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, and Anushka Sharma praised the film, but South Indian icons such as Ram Charan and Rajinikanth have also expressed their admiration for this spy action thriller. Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma even described it as setting a new standard in filmmaking.

Filmmaker and writer BVS Ravi remarked that this film signifies a transformative moment for traditional producers. He noted that if Dhar could create two four-hour films with a budget of Rs 260 crore, it should inspire others in the industry.

BVS Ravi Praises Aditya Dhar's Vision

BVS Ravi, a well-known Telugu screenwriter recognized for works like Rana Naidu and Jawaan, emphasized that the industry should learn from Dhurandhar. He speculated on the extensive effort and research Dhar must have undertaken to maintain logical coherence in an eight-hour film. He also questioned the theme Dhar developed, the trust he garnered from collaborators, and how he persuaded the producer to invest such a significant amount.

Ravi stated, "Creatively speaking, I believe Dhurandhar marks the beginning of the end for conventional producers. The film was produced with a budget of Rs 260 crore for both parts, featuring stars like Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna. The elaborate fight scenes and exotic locations, including a set in Bangkok, contributed to the costs. In contrast, we often start our films with budgets of Rs 500 crore."

Dhurandhar 2's Box Office Triumph

Dhurandhar premiered in theaters on December 5 and quickly became a box office sensation. Despite its lengthy runtime, the film attracted large audiences. Directed by Dhar, it follows an undercover Indian spy infiltrating gangs in Karachi to gather intelligence on terrorist activities. The cast also includes Saraa Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor.

Even before the first installment's success, a sequel was confirmed. After a three-month wait, fans eagerly returned to theaters to witness Hamza Ali Mazari and Jaskirat Singh Rangi's exploits in Lyari. The sequel has outperformed its predecessor at the box office, surprising many in the industry.

Recently, Dhurandhar 2 surpassed the Rs 1,000 crore milestone, becoming the first Hindi film to achieve this feat domestically. Its global earnings have reportedly reached Rs 1,622 crore. Even in its fourth week, the film shows no signs of slowing down, with positive reviews and strong box office numbers continuing to roll in. The industry is now keenly observing its performance to see which records it will break next.
