Dharma Productions Announces Sequel to Dostana with Vikrant Massey and Lakshya

After 18 years since the original release of Dostana in 2008, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is gearing up to launch a sequel to the beloved comedy. The upcoming film will star Vikrant Massey and Lakshya in prominent roles.
Sources familiar with the project revealed that the sequel has been under development for some time. According to an insider quoted by Pinkvilla, 'Dostana 2 has been in the works at Dharma for a while, and the team has crafted an excellent script that will advance the franchise in a modern direction. Vikrant Massey will star alongside Lakshya, and a newcomer will be introduced as the female lead. The plan is to start filming in January 2026, with a release targeted for late next year.'
In response to speculation about a potential OTT release, the producers have clarified that Dostana 2 is intended for theatrical distribution. The source added, 'Dostana 2 is being envisioned as a theatrical experience, complete with music, humor, romance, and drama. Discussions with directors are ongoing, and a decision will be made within two weeks.'
Vikrant Massey's Upcoming Projects
Currently, Vikrant Massey is finalizing work on the biopic of Sri Sri Ravishankar and the film Don 3. He is expected to commence filming for Dostana 2 by the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, Dharma Productions is also engaged in multiple other projects, including Dhadak 2 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumari, both slated for a 2026 release. Additionally, productions for 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' and 'Nagzilla' are anticipated to start later this year.
