Court Ruling on Asset Disclosure
The Delhi High Court granted permission on Friday for Priya Sachdev, wife of the late businessman Sanjay Kapoor, to submit a sealed envelope containing a list of his assets. This decision came in response to a partition suit filed by Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Raj Kapoor, regarding their father's estate. Both parties' attorneys assured the court that the contents of the will would not be leaked to the media.
Confidentiality Measures Ordered
The court instructed Priya Kapoor to share a copy of the will with the late Sanjay Kapoor's mother, Rani Kapoor. Additionally, the order stipulated that the will be securely stored with the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court to ensure its confidentiality and proper handling. Senior advocate Rajeev Nair, representing Priya Kapoor, emphasized the need for privacy in managing sensitive documents, noting that despite the partition case, the matter has garnered significant public attention.
Opposition to Privacy Claims
However, Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor's children, opposed this argument and questioned the necessity for privacy. He suggested that using confidentiality as a reason could potentially harm the estate, asserting that his client is an heir and has the right to know what has been left behind.
