David Beckham Honored with Knighthood: A Celebration of His Legacy
A Knighted Football Legend
On Tuesday, former England football captain Sir David Beckham was bestowed with a knighthood at Windsor Castle, recognizing his significant contributions to sports and charitable endeavors.
Earlier this year, Beckham expressed his immense pride in receiving this honor as part of the King's Birthday Honours.
He stated, "I couldn't be prouder. My love for my country is well-known, and I have always emphasized the importance of the monarchy to my family."
Beckham, who captained the England national team for six years from 2000 to 2006, earned 115 caps and participated in three World Cups and two European Championships. He concluded his playing career in Major League Soccer.
Beckham's journey began in 1992 when he joined Manchester United's academy, eventually playing for the senior team for 11 years before transferring to Real Madrid for £25 million in 2003. After four successful seasons in Spain, he moved to LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer, where he also had two loan stints at AC Milan, wrapping up his career with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
Off the pitch, Beckham's impact is significant. He was instrumental in securing the 2012 Olympic Games for London and has been a UNICEF ambassador since 2005. In 2015, a special fund was established in his name to celebrate a decade of partnership with the organization.
In 2024, Beckham took on the role of ambassador for the King’s Foundation, which supports educational and environmental initiatives for youth.
Additionally, he co-owns League Two club Salford City with former teammate Gary Neville and is a co-owner of Major League Soccer team Inter Miami.
