Canadian actor Dan Levy recently shared his feelings about the loss of his dear friend and Schitt’s Creek co-star, Catherine O’Hara, who passed away on January 30 after a short illness, as reported by various sources. During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Levy reminisced about his first visit to the show, which included O’Hara among the guests.

At 42, Levy expressed to Fallon, 51, that the loss felt collective, stating, “She was the greatest. She’s irreplaceable. The great comfort for me has just been to see how loved she was, you know what I mean? The outpouring. Everyone felt like they kind of knew her.” Fallon praised O’Hara, calling her “one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen” and noted her ability to create memorable characters.



Levy further remarked on her improvisational skills, calling her “unbelievably talented” and a true queen of comedy. O’Hara was celebrated for her performances in iconic films such as Home Alone, Best in Show, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. In Schitt’s Creek, she portrayed the extravagant matriarch Moira Rose, while Levy played her son, alongside Eugene Levy as her husband, Johnny Rose, and Annie Murphy as their daughter.

Following the announcement of O’Hara’s passing, Dan took to Instagram to pay tribute, sharing two photos of them together. He wrote, “What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years.” He reflected on their long-standing collaboration, stating, “Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her. My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke, and every member of her big, beautiful family.”



Catherine O’Hara, a comedy icon known for her roles in Schitt’s Creek and Home Alone, has passed away at the age of 71. Her publicist confirmed that she died at her Los Angeles home after a brief illness. O’Hara’s illustrious career spanned over five decades, starting with the Canadian sketch comedy series Second City Television, which earned her an Emmy Award. She later starred in numerous acclaimed films, including After Hours, Beetlejuice, and the first two Home Alone movies, where she famously played the mother of Kevin, portrayed by Macaulay Culkin.
