Pratik Shah, a cinematographer known for his work on acclaimed projects such as Jubilee, CTRL, and Homebound, is currently embroiled in a significant controversy following allegations of abuse and inappropriate behavior. The situation escalated when filmmaker Abhinav Singh labeled Shah as manipulative and emotionally abusive, revealing that numerous women have come forward with their distressing experiences involving him. In response to these serious claims, the producers of Homebound, which recently debuted at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, released an official statement addressing the matter.
Producers' Statement on Allegations
As reported by a media outlet, Dharma Productions emphasized their strict zero-tolerance policy regarding inappropriate conduct and sexual harassment in the workplace. They stated, "At Dharma Productions, we take allegations of sexual harassment very seriously. Mr. Pratik Shah was a freelancer on the Homebound project for a limited duration, and his engagement with us has concluded. During this time, our internal committee for POSH did not receive any complaints against him from the cast or crew of 'Homebound.'"
Shah's Response and Film Details
In light of the accusations, Pratik Shah has deactivated his Instagram account and has not yet publicly addressed the controversy. Homebound, which recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, is set to release in India soon. Esteemed Hollywood director Martin Scorsese has joined the film as an executive producer, expressing his admiration for the project. He remarked, "Having seen Neeraj’s first film Masaan in 2015, I was eager to support his second film after being presented with the project by Melita Toscan du Plantier. Neeraj has crafted a film that significantly contributes to Indian cinema, and I am thrilled it is an official selection at Un Certain Regard in Cannes this year."
