Previous reports had mentioned that the film received an A certificate with specific cuts, and that the edit list would soon be available on the CBFC's website. Additionally, it was suggested that Jana Nayagan might finally hit theaters by the end of July. However, this has not been officially confirmed, leaving the current status ambiguous.
Industry analysts suggest that the certification process is nearing completion. Once the Tamil version is approved, the Hindi and Telugu versions are expected to follow suit.

They later withdrew their petition and opted for the revising committee process, which took additional time.
Compounding the situation, an HD version of the film was leaked online earlier this year prior to its official release. Law enforcement later apprehended several individuals connected to this piracy incident, adding further pressure on the production team.
Directed by H Vinoth and produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features Vijay in the lead role, alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav. This project is anticipated to be Vijay's final acting endeavor.
