Public Apology from Pratik Shah
In a statement shared with Hollywood Reporter India, Pratik addressed the serious allegations leveled against him online. He stated, "I am profoundly remorseful for the mistakes I made and the hurt I caused, both in my professional dealings and personal relationships." The director of photography for Jubilee admitted that the rapid growth of his career clouded his judgment. He recognized that his actions stemmed from insecurity and a misguided desire for validation, expressing regret for not considering the influence he held within the Indian film industry.
Pratik acknowledged that the deterioration of his reputation and relationships was a direct result of his behavior, stating he is ready to "take full responsibility for the shame and pain I brought upon my family, friends, and collaborators." He also mentioned his commitment to therapy to address the underlying issues of his behavior and revealed that he has maintained sobriety for over a year as part of his rehabilitation journey. "I understand that none of this justifies my past actions. For that, I am genuinely sorry and ashamed. However, I am dedicated to learning from my mistakes and regaining trust through my actions," he concluded.
Details of the Allegations Against Pratik Shah
Director Abhinav Singh was the first to raise concerns about Pratik on social media, alerting female artists to his predatory behavior on set. Subsequently, numerous women came forward to share their experiences of his inappropriate conduct and emotional abuse. A representative from the Indian Women Cinematographers Collective noted that a complaint against Pratik had been filed five years ago when a younger director of photography reported that he had solicited n**e photographs.

Following the emergence of these allegations, Pratik was removed from several projects, including the untitled biopic of Sourav Ganguly featuring Rajkummar Rao. Furthermore, after he returned to complete patchwork footage for the web series Akka, Yash Raj Films announced that he would not receive credit for his contributions.
