In his discussion with Tanmay, Varun reflected on his decision to pass on the opportunity to star in Andhadhun. He explained that he was preoccupied with another project at the time. Varun mentioned that both he and Kangana Ranaut were the first choices for the film, although Kangana has yet to comment on her involvement.
Ultimately, the film featured Ayushmann, Tabu, and Radhika Apte in leading roles. Ayushmann portrayed Akash, a blind piano player, while Tabu played Simi, and Radhika took on the role of Sophie. The supporting cast included Anil Dhawan, Ashwini Kalsekar, Zakir Hussain, and Manav Vij, among others.
