Suriya's Upcoming Film 'Scene' Generates Buzz with Impressive Advance Bookings Ahead of Release
Box Office Momentum for 'Scene'
The highly anticipated film 'Scene', featuring Suriya, Nazriya Nazim, and Naslen, is already making waves at the box office. With just two days remaining until its release, the film has achieved over 4 crore in gross advance bookings in India within a mere 24 hours. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, this film is a significant addition to Suriya's lineup for 2026.
Advance ticket sales kicked off on the evening of November 3, with most theaters beginning their bookings on November 4. By 10 am on November 4, reports indicated that approximately 2.37 lakh tickets had been sold across more than 500 theaters, covering 2,528 shows. The film is currently projected to reach a worldwide advance booking total of 7.25 crore.
Regional Performance and Market Competition
The film's early box office success is primarily driven by Tamil Nadu, contributing 2.05 crore to the total. Kerala follows closely with 1.6 crore, while Karnataka and the Telugu-speaking regions have added 30 lakh and 15 lakh, respectively. As the release date nears, more showtimes are anticipated to be added.
Set to debut during the Diwali weekend—a time known for high cinema attendance—the film will face stiff competition. In North India, it will compete with 'Ramayana: Part 1', while in Tamil Nadu, it will clash with 'Mookuthi Amman 2', featuring Nayanthara.
Context of the 2026 Release Slate
'Scene' marks Suriya's third significant release in 2026, following his roles in 'Karuppu' and 'Vishwanath & Sons'. Director Jithu Madhavan, who previously directed the 2024 film 'Aavesham', is at the helm of this project, which showcases a unique character for Suriya compared to his earlier performances this year.
Industry experts are keenly observing whether 'Scene' can surpass the opening day numbers of Suriya's other films from 2026. To become his highest opener of the year, it would need to achieve 16 crore on its first day. Currently, Suriya's record for an opening day post-COVID stands at 24 crore, set by the 2024 period drama 'Kanguva'. While reaching this milestone is challenging, the festive release period offers a prime opportunity for strong performance during the opening weekend.
