A Heartfelt Farewell to Bharat Kapoor
Bharat Kapoor, a distinguished figure in Hindi cinema, sadly passed away on April 27 at the age of 80 following a cardiac arrest. His close friend and fellow actor, Avatar Gill, confirmed that Kapoor took his last breath at home on Monday afternoon. Reports suggest that he had been experiencing health issues in the days leading up to the heart attack, which occurred around 3:00 PM.
Over his prolific career, Bharat Kapoor became well-known for his supporting roles in various films. He featured in significant works such as Hindustan Ki Kasam, Sone Pe Suhaaga, and Balidaan. Kapoor was also recognized for his ability to portray antagonistic roles in films like Barsaat, Aakhree Raasta, Noorie, Ram Balram, and Inkaar, demonstrating his range as an actor.
The final rites for Bharat Kapoor were held on the same day as his passing at a crematorium close to Sion Hospital. The funeral service commenced at 6:00 PM, attended by family and industry colleagues. Avatar Gill announced that a chautha ceremony is scheduled for April 30 at the North Bombay Association, providing an opportunity for friends and fans to pay their respects.
Reflecting on their long friendship, Avatar Gill shared memories of their collaborations over the past fifty years, both in theater and film. He expressed the deep connection they had, stating, "I’ve known him for more than 50 years. We did many plays and acted in films together. For me, it is like losing an elder brother, a mentor, and a friend," emphasizing the significant influence Kapoor had on his life.
Bharat Kapoor leaves behind his wife, Lopa, and sons, Rahul and Sagar. His daughter, Kavita, had passed away a few years ago. The film industry mourns the loss of Kapoor, remembering him not only for his remarkable talent but also for his kindness and camaraderie.
