Kunchacko Boban's new film, "Unmadham," directed by Kiran Das, has made a humble entry at the box office. In this police drama, Boban portrays an officer dealing with a challenging case, but the film has not matched the success of his earlier works. On its first day, "Unmadham" earned a net of 0.7 crore, with a slight increase to 0.77 crore on the second day. However, these figures fall short compared to Boban's previous hit, "Officer on Duty."

As the weekend unfolds, the film has seen a minor uptick in occupancy rates, rising from 29% to 31%. Yet, this growth is not enough for a robust opening weekend. Current estimates indicate that the film may wrap up its first weekend with a total collection of less than 2.5 crore, having accumulated 1.47 crore after two days.

In contrast, Boban's last film, "Jithu Ashraf," was a box office triumph, showing remarkable growth during its opening weekend. It debuted with 1.25 crore and earned 1.7 crore on its second day, totaling 2.95 crore in just two days—over 50% more than what "Unmadham" has achieved in the same period, underscoring the difficulties faced by the latter.

As the film industry keeps a close watch on "Unmadham's" performance, it remains uncertain whether it can improve its standing in the upcoming days. With mixed reviews and a competitive box office environment, the film's future will be pivotal for both Boban and Das as they navigate the complexities of the Malayalam cinema landscape.
