She also reflected on the enduring memory of her late husband, the legendary Dharmendra, which remains a significant part of her daily existence.

In a conversation with ETimes, when asked about her potential return to acting, Hema stated, “It’s hard to say because I don’t dwell on it anymore. I’m content with what I’m doing.” She highlighted that her life is enriched by memories of Dharmendra, providing her solace during her period of mourning. Hema described him as a "wonderful soulmate" who not only supported her career but also fueled her passion for dance, showcasing the profound connection they shared.

Reflecting on the public scrutiny of their marriage, Hema addressed the challenges stemming from Dharmendra's previous marriage to Prakash Kaur. She remarked, “We never let that affect us. We lived our lives for ourselves, not for those who wished to criticize or judge.” Hema underscored that their love was authentic and steadfast, reinforcing the notion that their relationship was grounded in mutual respect and understanding.

After Dharmendra's passing on November 24, 2025, speculation arose regarding a rift between Hema and his first family. Hema dismissed these rumors as baseless, asserting that they are a "very united family" and maintain a harmonious relationship. She cautioned her fans to be wary of narratives shaped by artificial intelligence, which can often misrepresent the truth.

Dharmendra, who married Prakash Kaur in 1954 and had four children with her, later tied the knot with Hema Malini in 1980, with whom he welcomed two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol. Despite the intricate family dynamics, Hema and her daughters organized separate prayer meetings for Dharmendra, demonstrating their enduring love and respect for him, even amidst the complexities of their blended family.
