Bollywood Actor Hemant Arrested by Ahmedabad Crime Branch

In a startling development, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has apprehended a Bollywood supporting actor, Hemant, also known as Nagindas Parshottamdas Modi Vaishnav. This 53-year-old individual, who has a history of murder conviction, had been evading law enforcement for over a decade after violating parole. Hemant has reportedly acted alongside notable Bollywood stars such as Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Sunny Deol, and even featured in web series during his time on the run. His arrest was confirmed by police on Wednesday.

Hemant had been on the lam since he broke parole after his release in 2014. According to PM Dhakhra, an inspector with the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, he was serving a life sentence for a murder case dating back to 2005 in the Naroda area of Ahmedabad, under various sections of the IPC. He was captured near Gheekanta Metro Station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. A Crime Branch official stated, "Yesterday, we arrested Hemant Nagindas Modi, who had been evading capture for 12 years after breaching parole. He was convicted in a murder case and had been a wanted fugitive since 2014. During this time, he took on various roles in the film industry and was active on social media, releasing several web series." The police acted on a tip-off regarding his whereabouts.

For 12 years, Hemant managed to stay off the radar after escaping custody while on parole. During this period, he continued to work in the entertainment sector under a different name and maintained a strong social media presence. While evading capture, he appeared in multiple films and web series, successfully eluding law enforcement. Reports indicate that he concealed his identity and phone number and avoided returning to Ahmedabad. He is believed to have lived in Patan and other locations before moving to Mumbai to further his acting career.

Officials have noted that he led a "highly active and visible career in the entertainment industry," participating in films like Thugs of Hindostan, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Metro… In Dino. He was also set to appear in the upcoming film Lahore 1947, now retitled Batwara 1947. Additionally, Hemant has been involved in the South Indian film L2: Empuraan and has participated in various theatrical productions. Following his arrest, he has been moved to Mehsana Jail to serve the remainder of his sentence.
