Tickets for The Odyssey Fly Off the Shelves

The highly anticipated film The Odyssey, directed by renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan, saw its tickets vanish within minutes of becoming available for the initial screening, a full year prior to its release date.

This cinematic venture boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron, and is set to premiere on July 17, 2026.

IMAX announced the ticket pre-sale for the first screenings on Thursday via their official Instagram account.

Their post included the schedule for these initial showings.

The caption read, "Secure your tickets now for the first IMAX 70mm screenings of #TheOdysseyMovie – A film by Christopher Nolan. In theatres 7 17 2026. Link in Bio."

Reports indicate that the weekend of July 17-19, along with preview screenings, has completely sold out at locations such as AMC Lincoln Square 13 in New York City, Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood, and Regal Irvine Spectrum in Orange County.

This film is an adaptation of the ancient Greek epic poem "Odyssey" by Homer.

Homer's tale chronicles the adventures of Odysseus as he endures a lengthy journey home from the Trojan War, facing mythical beasts and the ire of the gods along the way.

Nolan's interpretation is not the first of its kind; the epic was previously adapted in the 1954 film Ulysses, directed by Mario Camerini and featuring Kirk Douglas.

Additionally, the Coen Brothers' 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou? draws inspiration from the Odyssey.
