Chinmayi Sripaada Addresses Disturbing Online Harassment

Chinmayi Sripaada, a prominent singer and voice artist, has recently shared alarming revelations in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). She disclosed that the relentless online harassment directed at her family prompted her husband, Rahul Ravindran, to leave the platform. In a seven-minute video, Chinmayi expressed her outrage over a netizen who wished death upon their young son. The 41-year-old artist stated that while she has faced abuse for years, she has never encountered such depravity as to involve a three-year-old child in their toxic remarks.

Chinmayi Sripaada Discusses Death Threats Against Her Son

In her video, Chinmayi highlighted her long-standing advocacy for survivors of sexual assault, which she claims has made her a target for online abuse. She addressed critical issues such as rape culture, misogyny, and harassment.

Chinmayi pointed out a disturbing trend among young users on Telugu X, where the level of abuse escalates. She recounted a specific incident that pushed Rahul to his limit, where a tweet suggested praying for their son's death and encouraged others to join in. "This was purely due to their inability to manage their emotions and anger," she remarked.

According to Chinmayi, Rahul faced this backlash because he does not subscribe to the notion of systemic oppression against women. "You cannot generalize a few isolated incidents of violence by women against men as gender oppression. The situation escalated, leading to continuous harassment of our children, prompting him to delete the app. I remain here," she explained.
