Directed by H Vinoth, the movie faced a significant setback when it was leaked online months prior to its official release and certification. Following a complaint from the film's production team, law enforcement swiftly intervened against those responsible for the leak. Recently, a startling update in the Jana Nayagan leak investigation has emerged. The Chennai police informed the Madras High Court that approximately 1.2 crore individuals viewed the film illegally after its leak on April 9.

As reported by a local news outlet, Justice C Kumarappan presided over the bail requests made by two of the 21 individuals implicated in the case. The police presented their findings to the Madras High Court. The judge denied bail to the fourth accused, S Rajini, and the eleventh accused, Jayaprakash, citing the severity of the allegations related to evidence tampering in the ongoing investigation. Consequently, their bail applications were rejected. The prosecution argued that the primary suspect allegedly pilfered footage from an editing suite using a hard drive. Investigators revealed that he, along with two of his siblings, edited the fragmented clips into a complete version and uploaded it to Google Drive.

Subsequently, the pirated version was disseminated across various piracy websites. The Tamil Nadu government informed the court that KV Productions had secured a temporary injunction from the Madras High Court, mandating internet service providers to block unauthorized screenings of the film. Currently, the film has been removed from online platforms. A preliminary chargesheet has been filed, and the investigation continues as authorities prepare to submit the final chargesheet.
