In recent years, Charlotte Flair has expressed her ambition to surpass her father, Ric Flair, who holds the record for the most world championship reigns in WWE and WCW, totaling sixteen. Unfortunately, Charlotte has faced challenges, including injuries that limited her participation in WWE events.

This past April, John Cena made headlines at WrestleMania 41 by defeating Cody Rhodes to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship, thus becoming a 17-time World Champion and breaking the record he had previously shared with Ric Flair for eight years.

During an interview with a prominent sports outlet, Charlotte shared her thoughts on her father's record being surpassed, stating that she does not feel disappointed about not being the one to achieve this milestone.

“Records are meant to be broken. I don’t wanna speak for my dad, but I think in this case I can—John was the guy to do it.”

Charlotte further elaborated that Cena's achievement signifies more than just breaking a record; it represents the culmination of an illustrious career, especially as she plans to conclude her wrestling journey later this year.

She expressed her happiness in witnessing the realization of 'Never Seen Seventeen' in the world of sports entertainment after many years.

“Seeing John Cena and what he means to the industry and what he means to me as a performer, I don’t think it was sad. The record stood the test of time for a very long time.”

Charlotte Flair's Championship Aspirations

Currently, Charlotte Flair boasts 14 World Championship reigns, tying her with Randy Orton. Both are among the closest active WWE wrestlers who could potentially match or exceed Cena's record of 17 as they continue their careers.

Among her titles, Charlotte has held the WWE Divas Championship once, the WWE (Raw) Women’s Championship six times, and the SmackDown Women’s Championship seven times. However, WWE does not recognize her two NXT Women’s Championship reigns as part of the world title count.
