Support for Sonam Wangchuk's Cause
A multitude of celebrities from Bollywood and television have come together to support activist Sonam Wangchuk, urging him to conclude his hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. With worries mounting over his health due to prolonged fasting, well-known TV actress Shweta Tiwari has also voiced her support. In an Instagram Story, the star of Kasautii Zindagii Kay expressed her backing for the students' protest but made it clear that she does not align with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). She emphasized that while she believes in Wangchuk's cause, she does not endorse the CJP's methods.

Shweta stated, "Sonam Wangchuk is advocating for a legitimate cause... the education and future of our children. This issue warrants attention, and the government must take his concerns seriously." She further remarked, "However, I have no inclination towards CJP. I disagree with their approach and feel they are exploiting his struggle for their own agenda. I do not support that method." Tiwari reiterated that her support is solely for Wangchuk and his mission, not for any political entity looking to gain from it. She added, "Regardless of our political differences, we cannot afford to lose someone who has devoted his life to the nation and education. The emphasis should be on his message, health, and finding a constructive solution." She stressed the importance of focusing on his message and health during this critical time.
Television Stars Show Solidarity
Numerous other television figures and reality show contestants, including Farrhana Bhatt and Munawar Faruqui, have also shown their support for Sonam Wangchuk during his hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Concerned for his well-being, they have urged the activist to end his fast and prioritize his recovery. For those unfamiliar, Wangchuk is currently on the 19th day of his indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi. Reports indicate that he has lost approximately 8.9 kg, bringing his weight down to 57.15 kg. Medical professionals are closely monitoring his blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Despite his declining health and a legal request for permission to force-feed him, Wangchuk remains resolute in continuing his protest.
