Celebrating Gudi Padwa: Radhika Vidyasagar Reflects on Traditions and Memories
Gudi Padwa Festivities in Maharashtra
On March 19, Maharashtra embraced the joyous festival of Gudi Padwa, a time for family gatherings, fresh starts, and seasonal transitions. Homes across the state are adorned with vibrant mango leaves, marigold flowers, and a beautifully draped Gudi—a bamboo pole topped with an inverted pot, decorated with sarees, flowers, and sweets.
Actress Radhika Vidyasagar, known for her role in the daily soap Udne Ki Aasha, shared her personal experiences of Gudi Padwa in an exclusive interview. She reminisced about the festival's significance and her childhood memories, particularly the simpler celebrations during her school days.

For Gudi Padwa, my resolution remains unchanged.”
Celebration on Set: A Different Experience
Why Gudi Padwa Isn't Celebrated on Set
Discussing the absence of Gudi Padwa celebrations on set, Radhika mentioned, “In Hindi television, we don’t celebrate Gudi Padwa. Many are unfamiliar with the festival, making it a personal celebration for me. Perhaps Marathi television shows observe it, but it hasn’t yet reached Hindi productions.”

Memories from School Days
Reflecting on her school days, Radhika shared, “Gudi Padwa falls in March, coinciding with our final exams before summer break. It was challenging to have grand celebrations during that time. Our festivities were modest, focusing on family.”

Kitchen Aromas During the Festival
“The kitchen would be filled with the delightful scent of hot puris and fresh Shrikhand. If not Shrikhand, we would prepare Basundi. The nostalgic aroma of the kitchen and the torans outside the house are unforgettable,” Radhika expressed, reminiscing about her Gudi Padwa celebrations. She concluded by wishing her fans and the audience of Udne Ki Aasha a joyful Gudi Padwa and a prosperous new year.
