BTS Takes Over New York City

Following a triumphant return at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square, BTS made waves in New York City. The K-pop sensation, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, reunited in the US after a four-year hiatus for a special event attended by 1,000 top Spotify listeners. This exclusive gathering, named Spotify x BTS: Swimside, took place at Pier 17, marking their second performance in the US, approximately 7,000 miles from their homeland, South Korea. The group showcased tracks from their newly launched album, ARIRANG, as part of their promotional efforts following their mandatory military service. The invitation-only event on March 24 featured a performance and a Q&A session, creating an immersive experience at South Street Seaport. With the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop, the atmosphere mirrored the essence of their new music video, SWIM. This event marked their return to the US since their last concerts, Permission to Dance: Las Vegas, in April 2022.

During the Q&A, BTS was asked about the most challenging part of a song from ARIRANG. J-Hope mentioned that the 'Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha' segment in Hooligan was particularly tough. Although a significant portion of the song features his voice, he admitted it was a challenge. RM revealed that Jungkook penned the 'Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha' part but also found it difficult. He explained, "It's in 3 sets: Ha ha ha ha..." which requires quick breaths, making it tricky to perform. Jungkook, initially shy, attempted it and realized the difficulty, but succeeded on his second try.
