BTS Makes History with ARIRANG's Billboard Success
BTS Reunites with ARIRANG
After a lengthy break due to military obligations, BTS has reunited for their latest album, ARIRANG, much to the delight of their global fanbase, known as ARMY. The group's fifth studio album has not only set numerous records but has also consistently topped various music charts. Recently, ARIRANG achieved another milestone by securing the top position on the Billboard 200 chart for the second week in a row. This accomplishment marks BTS as the first K-pop group to reach such heights, showcasing their global influence and pride for their heritage.
ARIRANG's Chart-Topping Performance
BTS' ARIRANG continues to shine on the Billboard 200, maintaining its number one status for a second consecutive week. According to data from Luminate, the album garnered 187,000 equivalent units in the U.S. for the week ending April 2, a notable decrease from its impressive debut of 641,000 units. Nevertheless, ARIRANG has now achieved the most weeks at number one among BTS' seven chart-topping albums, as their previous six releases each held the top spot for just one week. Additionally, ARIRANG boasts the largest opening week of 2026 thus far, competing against new releases from artists like Ye, Melanie Martinez, and Yeat, who have also made it into the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200 chart.
Celebration Among Fans
Fans took to social media platform X to celebrate this remarkable achievement. One user expressed, "BTS is creating history. Everyone bow down to the legends," while another remarked, "BTS breaking records I know nothing about. Talk about influence! This is your industry, boys." Comments flooded in, with one fan stating, "ARIRANG is for the books. BTS coming back from a 4-year hiatus stronger than ever. Congratulations BTS!" Another fan added, "So well deserved. BTS you are absolute legends, and so is ARMY."
Understanding the Billboard 200
The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. weekly, utilizing a combined system of album sales, track-equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming-equivalent albums (SEA), as measured by Luminate. One unit is equivalent to one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold, or a specific number of streams—2,500 for ad-supported or 1,000 for paid streams. The complete chart is set to be released on Tuesday.
ARIRANG was made available in physical formats such as CD, vinyl, and cassette on March 27, followed by its digital and streaming release on March 28. In its second week, of the total 187,000 units sold, album sales accounted for 114,000, streaming contributed 65,000 units, and track sales added 8,000 units. Stay tuned for all the latest updates!
