Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Face $2.1 Million Contractor Claims Amid Legal Turmoil
Financial Struggles for the Celebrity Couple
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are currently grappling with over $2.1 million in claims from contractors regarding their incomplete 110-acre estate located in Lewisboro, New York. This financial strain arises as the couple deals with the fallout from a legal conflict involving Lively and Justin Baldoni, the director and co-star of the film "It Ends With Us." The estate, intended to serve as a family retreat and eco-friendly haven, has been under construction for several years.
As reported by a media outlet, five contractors and subcontractors lodged mechanics liens against the couple's property last month, with Westchester County records verifying the total claims at $2.1 million. The most significant claim, totaling $1.35 million, was submitted by FlowCon Inc., also recognized as Flower Construction, covering a range of services such as framing, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical work, drywall, masonry, waterproofing, painting, and millwork. Additional claims pertain to custom copper roofing, structural steel fabrication, rough carpentry, geothermal excavation, and septic installation, with no lien releases or discharges noted in the county's records.
The couple discreetly acquired the South Salem property through an LLC in 2018, later purchasing an additional four-bedroom parcel and four adjacent lots for $1.6 million. Their ambitious estate plan includes a 14,500-square-foot main residence, a 3,306-square-foot pool house, a 1,702-square-foot gym, along with essential septic and stormwater systems. Construction is believed to have halted around late 2025 or early 2026.
During a planning board meeting in 2022, Lively referred to the property as "heaven" and "the most beautiful place in the world," showcasing her profound appreciation for the land. She highlighted the couple's eagerness to commence construction and establish a family home for themselves and their four children. Their attorney, Michael Sirignano, mentioned that they have "no plans" to sell the surrounding lots, emphasizing their commitment to keeping the estate as a family compound.
The timing of these liens coincides with Lively's recent legal dispute with Baldoni, which arose from accusations of a hostile work environment. Although Baldoni countersued for $400 million, the matter was ultimately resolved without any financial exchange. Lively is still seeking legal fees related to Baldoni's unsuccessful countersuit, but a judge recently denied her request to file additional documents. Furthermore, reports suggest that her Blake Brown haircare brand has encountered significant difficulties since its launch, with her team alleging reputational damages of up to $300 million. Representatives for both the contractors and Lively have yet to respond to requests for comments.
