Bhooth Bangla's Release Uncertain Amid Middle East Tensions
The Impact of Ongoing Conflicts on Cinema
Due to the current conflict between Iran and Israel, cinemas across the Middle East have temporarily closed their doors. This situation raises concerns for the upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, which may not be able to premiere in that region. While several filmmakers have opted to delay their releases, Priyadarshan and the team behind this horror-comedy are committed to its launch in India. In a recent interview with a media outlet, actor Jisshu Sengupta shared his thoughts on the slim prospects of Bhooth Bangla being released in the Middle East. He emphasized that life continues despite such challenges, and the film industry cannot impose a curfew-like state.
Jisshu Sengupta Discusses the Film's Release Challenges
In his conversation, Jisshu remarked, “Action occurs daily, so should I remain indoors? We must step outside. Accidents happen all the time. Flights crash, so should I avoid flying? Life goes on. I believe we cannot stay home worrying about potential outcomes. While it’s essential to think about our work, what happens afterward is beyond our control.”
Jisshu Sengupta on the Effects of War on the Film Industry
He further stated, “If a war prevents this film from succeeding, then the entire industry should shut down. That’s not a feasible solution. While the war is affecting us, we cannot simply halt everything and stay at home. We must continue to live our lives and enjoy good cinema.”
Overview of Bhooth Bangla
Bhooth Bangla features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Mithila Palkar. The story unfolds in Mangalpur, a town haunted by the inability to marry due to the looming threat of Vadhusur over a palace. While some characters believe in the myth, others challenge it. According to the director, the film draws from Indian mythology and black magic, referencing ancient texts like the Vedas and the Mahabharata. Despite rumors linking it to Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the filmmakers clarified that this Priyadarshan project focuses more on mythological themes and superstition rather than being a psychological thriller.
