She expressed that this content infringed on her privacy, harmed her reputation, and caused her mental distress. In response to her allegations, authorities registered a case under the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, initiating an investigation.

In her report, Rukmini Vasanth highlighted that manipulated images and videos of her were circulating on social media. Following her complaint, the Bengaluru police filed Crime No. 36/2026 under pertinent sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A specialized investigation team was established to locate those responsible for creating and disseminating the content. During the investigation, officials successfully identified and arrested three suspects, seizing three mobile devices believed to have been utilized in the crime.
The arrested individuals have been named as Ravikumar (24) from Bagalkot district, Chandrakanth (33), a Bengaluru resident originally from Shivamogga district, and Ranjith (25) from Bengaluru. Police have confirmed that all three have been presented before the court, and the investigation is ongoing.

Rukmini described the distribution of such content as a “serious violation of privacy” and urged users to refrain from spreading these altered visuals. In her statement, she and her team clarified, “I want to state clearly that these images are entirely fake and fabricated.”
