Behind the Scenes of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam: Salman Khan's Climax Dilemma

The Controversial Ending of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Fans of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's iconic film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, will recall the dramatic climax where Ajay Devgn's character ultimately takes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's character away, leaving Salman Khan's character heartbroken. This ending, however, did not sit well with Salman, who was deeply invested in the film both personally and professionally.
At the time, Salman was in a real-life relationship with Aishwarya, and the thought of her being with another man, even in a fictional context, was unbearable for him. His frustration with the film's conclusion was palpable, and he made several attempts to persuade Bhansali to alter it.
In a bid to change the director's mind, Salman enlisted the help of his close friend, Sooraj Barjatya. Together, they approached Bhansali during the final stages of filming, with Barjatya spending nearly two hours arguing for a different ending that would see Salman end up with Aishwarya.
Despite their efforts, Bhansali remained steadfast in his vision, and the film concluded as originally scripted, with Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai riding off into the sunset while Salman was left in tears—real tears that reflected his genuine emotions.
