Actor Barun Sobti has shared his personal experiences regarding mental health, revealing his diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). During the finale of Be A Man, Yaar! Season 3, he opened up about his struggles with ADHD and anxiety, explaining how he recognized certain behavioral patterns from his childhood that led him to seek professional help. Sobti emphasized the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, encouraging individuals to openly discuss their challenges and reminding them that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
Barun Sobti's ADHD Diagnosis
In a heartfelt discussion with Nikhil Taneja, Barun Sobti revealed that he was the first to suspect he had ADHD. He decided to consult a therapist after observing persistent behavioral patterns that were hard to overlook. He recounted that during his first meeting with the therapist, the professional humorously remarked on how he had already identified his condition before receiving an official diagnosis. Barun explained that various signs had been part of his life for many years, stating, "My legs are always moving. I struggle to focus on conversations that don't engage me. I feel the need to be in constant motion. Sleep eludes me, and I deal with anxiety issues."
Childhood Symptoms of ADHD
Barun reflected on his childhood, noting that these symptoms indicated something beyond mere restlessness. He remembered being labeled as hyperactive by his mother, despite the limited understanding of ADHD during that time. He pointed out that while his behavior was often seen as just being energetic, there was a lack of awareness about ADHD and its manifestations in both children and adults.
