Badshah Faces NCW Summons Over Controversial Song 'Tateeree'
Controversy Surrounds Badshah's 'Tateeree'
Rapper and singer Badshah has found himself in hot water as the National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned him along with the creators of his Haryanvi track, 'Tateeree', due to allegations of vulgar lyrics and obscenity. Following significant backlash, the song has been removed from all platforms. Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, issued an apology regarding the situation. The NCW's recent statement indicated that the content of the song appears to violate several legal provisions, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
NCW's Action Against Badshah
As per the NCW's announcement, they have taken cognizance based on media reports concerning the song's obscenity. The commission stated, “The National Commission for Women, exercising its authority under the NCW Act, 1990, has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging vulgarity in the song 'Tattiri / Tatihari'.” In addition to Badshah, directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, along with producer Hiten, have also been summoned to appear before the commission on March 25. They are required to present relevant documentation, and failure to comply could lead to legal consequences.
Prior to the NCW's involvement, the Haryana State Commission for Women had issued a directive for Badshah's arrest after he did not appear by the specified deadline regarding the Haryanvi music video. Renu Bhatia, the chairperson of the commission, noted that Badshah was expected to appear by March 13 but failed to do so. FIRs have been filed in Panchukla and Jind related to this issue.
Concerns Regarding 'Tateeree'
The police have pointed out that 'Tateeree' features young girls in school uniforms discarding their bags to escape their studies. The lyrics include terms like 'Badshala', which misrepresent the educational environment. Additionally, the song contains derogatory references towards women and girls. Released on March 1, 2026, on YouTube, 'Tateeree' features vocals by Simran Jaglan, with lyrics penned by Badshah and music composed by Hiten. Badshah has yet to respond to the NCW's summons regarding this matter. Stay tuned for further updates!
